Elizabeth Warren says “If you built a factory out there, good for you! But I want to be clear – You moved your goods to market on roads the rest of us paid for.”
Sorry, Ms. Warren, taxes paid for those roads, and most of the taxes are paid by the people who built those factories (as well as every other business owner). And those who that factory owner employs – you know, the people who wouldn’t have a job if somebody hadn’t risked everything ans started a business…
So, in reality, the very business people you are slamming are the ones who foot most of the bill for the roads and infrastructure. Roads that the poor couldn’t travel on without the businesses you are demonizing.
You should be thanking them for the roads – they built them. You only use them.
Since this election season is pitting ‘I built it,” versus, “You didn’t build that,” what better way for Brown to attack Warren than to let her own party’s most popular leaders of the past few decades contradict her own message:
